Contests.
As promised, here is your chance to win a free copy of SkyCharts. In order to win, all you have to do is identify the aircraft below by designation and name, for example “F-15 Eagle”. To submit your entry, simply use this Contact form.
The contest begins when posted, and runs until 11:59pm Pacific Time on Monday November 2nd. Three winners will then be chosen on Tuesday November 3rd from all the correct answers received. Each winner will receive a code which can be redeemed for a free copy of SkyCharts. Complete contest rules can be found here. Good luck!

What am I?
To celebrate the recent release of SkyCharts v1.51, the developer has graciously provided me with several codes for free copies of the SkyCharts app.
A “Name That Plane” contest and related details will be posted here on the news feed at noon-ish Pacific time on Friday October 30th, where you will have a chance to win a code for one of three FREE copies of SkyCharts. If you don’t already have a subscription, now would be a good time to subscribe to the news feed through RSS or email!
If you don’t win this time, more free apps will be coming next week… so stay tuned!

A user kindly pointed out that there was a problem with the sort and pagination features where the “Sort By” setting wasn’t persisting on subsequent pages. For example, if you sorted the list by Price then clicked the next page link, page two of the list would revert to being sorted by App Name, not Price.
As soon as it was reported, I knew what was wrong… I had changed a variable name in one place and neglected to change it in another. Oooops! This goes to show you; Don’t go messing around with your code after you’ve tested it. Rookie mistake!
Well, it’s now fixed and the Sort and Pagination features should now work together in harmony (as intended). If you sort the list by any parameters, those parameters should persist as you view pages of the list, at least until you re-sort the list.
It took me a little longer than I thought it would to release this, but the App List has now been split into pages. By default, 50 apps will appear on each page but you may change that by selecting 25, 100 or All from the “Apps Per Page…” drop-down and clicking the “Apply” button. At the bottom of the list you will then find FIRST, PREV, NEXT and LAST links with which to navigate forward and backward through the pages.
I am not super happy with the look and feel of the navigation and sort controls, but I have some design improvements in mind which will be launched in conjunction with the App categorization I have previously mentioned (yes, I am still working on it).
In the meantime, let me know if you find the pagination feature useful or not.

It’s been quiet on the news feed for the past two weeks, but that’s simply because with the end of the fiscal year my day job has been keeping me BUSY (emphasis intended).
The pressure at work is lessening somewhat and I’m starting to see some time free up, so with that I’ve got a few updates queued up which I hope to push out over the weekend. Included will be an update to the app list, and the release of the pagination feature. Stay tuned!
